I arrived in London Heathrow, for the second time on Friday, February 6th, 2009. I was a little nervous getting off the plane. "Were they gonna deport me out of the country once again? No, they can't I have my visa!" So I got a boost of confidence and kept walking down the long hall way to get to the end of the immigration line. The flight wasn't bad considering I had three seats all together and lay across them and sleep the whole way, except for dinner and breakfast. Anyways I finally got to the front of the line and the man who called "Next please!" in his strong English accent, was the same man who deported me, but a fresh haircut. He did not ask me any questions all he said was "How did it go?" and then he took me back to the "pig pen" where I had been taken the first time when he thought I looked like some sort of criminal or something. So I sat in the pen again and he said "be right back, there won't be any problems, don't worry." Then he left and went into the back. So i sat there, once again. Still sitting. Still waiting. 15 Minutes had passed and I had started to worry. I did not want to go all the way back home AGAIN! Eventually he came back to tell me that I could legally enter the country now. So he stamped my passport and just like that I was free.
From there I went and walked a long looking for the starbucks, which is where i was meeting Jocelyn and Austin so I picked up my luggage and went up the elevator and there it was. Its wierd not being able to use a cell phone or not have anyway to really contact someone at first hand. Especially when you are in a new place. I bought a starbucks sat down for a bit and checked to see if I had any internet connection but it was all stuff you had to pay for. So I shut that off and sat there and watched all the people around me for a bit, since Joceyln and Austin told me they wouldnt be there until 9: 30. I didn't feel like sitting around anymore so I got up and started pushing my luggage cart away and had to manouver around a bunch of strollers and bags and other people and then crash. "FUCK" the man beside me said. I felt so bad. "I'm so sorry" I replied. and then I kept going and got outta there as fast as I could. He was a big english man about thirty. Kind of looked like he could kill some one so I didn't look back. I saw a pay phone so I thought I should probably call and wake up the family and let them no I actually got into the country this time. So I went to the pay phone and did not understand what kind of money to put in it so I pressed the operator button and called collect. I did that last time so that was the only way I knew how to do. It worked so Mom and Dad new I was safe and sound now.
I went back to starbucks and sat on the complete opposite end of the man and waited and watched for Joceylen and Austin. Then I looked around and there they were with Theo! So we started walked out to the *car park* which is what they call a parking lot but first Theo said "I need to use the Loo i think" *Loo* being the washroom. I wonder how that came about. So we got to the car and drove home.
Everyone drives crazy here. They are no stop signs really its pretty much just free for all. Opposite side of the road and opposite side of the car. Confusing really. So we dropped Jocelyn off at the shop and then dropped Theo off at school. Then I got in had a cup of tea setteled in and unpacked all my stuff into my gorgeous designed room. Done unpacked I wanted to see if my skype thing worked so my lap top is on and my travel convertor plug, plugged in and plugged into that was my skype thing. A few seconds later *BANG* it blew up and scared the shit out of me. I was a little shaky after that and did not want to put anything else back into those plugs. So after one more cup of tea I decided to get some rest.
Screaming and yelling and laughing and giggling, i woke up to four little girls having so much fun in Dulcies bedroom. Right next to mine. This was going to be so much fun I thought. So I woke up and was ready for anything and everything. As I walked down the stairs in walked Theo and his friend Luke and they were ready to sled in the house. So the next few hours were loud and fun and obnoxious. I even got a Hannah Montannah tattoo from Dulcies new kit on my hand! Eventually the kids left and after playing with all the new toys Dulcie and Theo went to bed. Next was a dinner party. Delicious food here, lots of different stuff but so tasty! So we ate dinner and drank A LOT of wine. Bubbly's and White wine. It was delicious. After chatting , chocolates and more wine, I had survived my first day in Windsor.

Hi Lea
ReplyDeleteGreat to read your story, sounds like quite an adventure so far:)
I look forward to hearing more of your life overseas. Hope all is well with you. Weather here seems like it would be London weather--raining and kinda miserable right now, but also has been extremely icy!
Will pass this on to Julie so she knows about your blog as well.
Take care, and look forward to chapter 2 of Life in London:)
