life in windsor.

i have come to the point in my adventure where i don't really miss home that much. i mean, i miss my friends and my family of course but winnipeg... not so much. life here is just put together so well. everything is so posh. all the people are so posh. not perfect but posh. everyone is so kind and in the morning everyone gets up. kids put on uniforms walk or take there fancy buses to school and everything seems to just run so smoothly. everything you need pretty much, is located in town centre. its like a shopping mall...kind of. but better. all of the men wear their suit and ties and all of the women well most of them are wear dresses or skirts and high shoes or cute flats. everyone just looks so neat. it has its perfect parts but all has some downs. i miss my own place. my own bed. my own shower my own cups plates & fridge.(even though i don't cook that often) but i miss it. i miss driving around in my car listening to music and sing along pretending that i am actually the one that is singing. i miss my space.

space here is i guess when you sleep your bedroom pretty much. once you are outside. you see people. everywhere. you can't really go anywhere without being close to someone. its wierd. most of the houses are attached. if not really close together. but i mean it doesnt bother people. windsor is one of the wealthiest parts of england and you can tell. people care about it and care about the people living here. i guess getting used to having this much space happens. just different especially because im from the country. no one for miles. the only people who get that here are royalties.

my family comes on tuesday. SO excited. it will be a nice treat and a break too because i get the whole time they are here off. i'm excited to show them around. and it'll be nice to speak to people who speak the same as me. i think i'm kinda starting to talk more posh. boys melt my hearts though when they say sweetheart and love here. i could actually listen to them just repeat those two words ALL day. anyways. i am still waiting for an email from xfactor so hopefully i will get that this week. i did win a makeover. hairstyle and photoshoot though in london so that should be fun. not to much else is going on. the weather this week has been absolutley gorgeous. sun all day for the last 7 days. apparently its supposed to snow next week. which i don't think is true but who knows. my family will just love that.
suppose its time to go to sleep now.
early morning for the gym tommorrow.

loving that sun.

today was beautiful outside. i love just walking down the streets and seeing all the intresting people that walk by me. i had the day off today which was nice. i have been sick all week and havent gotten up earlier than 10 so its nice. i dont really go to bed until late late at night this week because of my coughing keeping me up other than that i talk to people back home mostly when it is convenient for them. today i walked into town which is a 15 minute walk, in just a light cardigan with the sun shineing brightly down on me. i met my from Chiara (girl from italy) for lunch and we went to pizza express which is the best pizzza place in the world. it is SO good. and its fancy too. well i thought so for a pizza place. then continued on to shop for some things and then walked home and unloaded a vanful of groceries. continued on to write a letter and watch Dulcie draw pictures on what she thought God looked like. interesting she said anything cross shaped meant God and even a basket with a baby meant God. she started by drawing a horse. then went to gold, insense and myrr. then an angel. then God and then a cross and another. and then off to brownies she went. i then started a nice fire for our friday night american idol sessions where we have recorded all the episodes of american idol in the past week and watch them all friday night while eating pizza. Jocelyn said if I started the fire she would give me 10% of the 85 million lottery we are going to win tommorrow. wouldn't that be nice.

so while watching american idol jocelyn decides its a good idea if i sign up to go on x-factor which is englands american idol. simon cowell is a judge as well. so i signed up and am waiting for my audition time to pop up in my inbox. so that should be fun. i am so nervous. i am still up and shouldnt be. tommorrow i am going to portobello market in london to go shopping and then to chinatown and then this and that. i am getting up tommorrow the earliest i have since i have been here. crazy. but time to sleep.

London Eye

The Queens House Tulip Stairs & Dulcie running up them

just touched down in london town.

It is so amazing on how much everyone is the same but so different. Everyone says it. You are the same yet different.. its true. As I walk down the streets of town center in Windsor, everyone is walking around, in the same place as I am but the difference between me and the person standing next to me could be a million things. You don't know that unless you talk to the person standing there. Obviously we can look different on the outside, without saying anything. The clothes we wear, the way we style our hair, if we are a male or female, what colour our skin is. By looking at just these things, we judge. It's not until you know the person who is standing next to you what they really are all about. They could like the same things as you, or not. They could know how to speak your language or not. But how will you know, if you don't give them a chance.

Since I have been here, I have seen so many different types of people. I have met a bunch of girls who are other au pairs as well. A few of them are from Spain, a couple from Germany, one from Swedan, one from France and one from Italy. It is so amazing that we can all come together and learn things about eachother. Its also amazing that we can communicate, in the language I speak. We all went out together for dinner, laughing and getting along fine. It felt good to get out of the house and socialize. After dinner we went to the disco a place called liquid. This I consider just like stereo but bigger. They call the bar a disco, and a bar here is more of a pub. Last weekend also consisted of my first trip into London. ♥ It is so amazing and there is just so much to do. We drove out from Windsor which is a fifteen minute drive, but some days can take two hours if traffic is bad. Then we parked the car and waited for the ferry to come pick us up at one of the ferry stops. Its like a bus route but on water. People use these boats daily to get around. There is even a police shop and police boats on the river. It stops at all of its routes stops and lets people off and on. When it was our turn, we got off. We went to the maritime museum which is wear they invented time pretty much. It is all about the ships and battles that took place and the Queens house which you get to tour around in and "not" take photos. I did, I couldn't help it. After that we got back on our ferry back to get off at the London eye. Which is pretty much the worlds biggest ferris wheel but you walk on with about 15 people in this pod and it goes around slowly so you can see all over London. I think it takes about 10-15 mins to go around. As we were coming down the skys were getting more grey and it started to rain. We took one last stop in London before going back home & that was at a restaurant called pizza express. This was the fanciest pizza place I have ever been too. It tasted so good too! After eating we got back into the car and headed home. A long day but one of the best.

As the weather gets nicer and I no longer have to wear a jacket, I know why I am here and not in Winnipeg. No snow, no freezing rain, no muddy slush no more winter. I'll be back when Winnipeg is as gorgeous as London. Summer time.

so little time. so much to do.

Going through three converters blowing up in my face was some what exciting I guess but inconvienent. All I wanted to do was charge my laptop/camera/ipod/use straightner. Things aren't easy when everything here has a different voltage and a different outlet. Aparently things don't just work out smoothly for me. Thats just one of the differences. As the days go on here in Windsor, I realize how many differences there actually are across the ocean. Even though we speak the same language there are so many things that make us who we are as a country, or even as a city or a town. The other day we were driving to the park and oh who is that right in front of us turning into there driveway, oh just Prince Andrew. At home I used to get excited when I saw Ace Burpee driving around, nevermind the Prince. Walking down the streets of Winnipeg you usually pass a McDonalds but you have to walk through a detour sidewalk thing because of all the construction to get there then you will probably pass a couple of people who are on the corner of the streets with signs in there hands and on the front of the sign it'll say "SMILE" and on the back it'll say "I NEED BEER!" In Windsor walking down the street you'll pass I fancy ice cream shop called Mauds and men all in there fanciest suits and right next to the ice cream shop is nothing but a huge Castle. Gorgeous actually. Everything is so "posh" here and everyone has to be on there best behaviour just incase the Queen catches them. She wouldn't want to see them splashing around in there willys.

Everyday I wake up and there is a cup of tea ready for me. Not only is the tea ready, but the kids are up and ready to run around all day at full speed. They are really good kids and have there moments but it is so different to see kids on an adult point of view. You worry about them before yourself, and you always put them first. It is so annoying when they whine and cry for things they want and have to have. Mom I will try not to do that ever again. Raw brocoli is the worst thing you could put on there plate, they will not eat it. Aparently I talk funny and while i'm in England i have to call pants trousers because pants are underwear. I have to call the washroom the loo. Dinner is tea. Tea is tea. Lunch is Tea. Garbage is rubbish. When you want a turn... May I have a go? Theo told me the other day I must be from High School Musical because I called a jumping jack a jumping jack. "In England, we call them star jumps, so for now you must call it that." He said. My accent hasn't changed really since I got here. I just say pardon a lot more cause Theo says it about every second. Kids are so entertaining and everything that you say, they repeat it.

My days are quite short and don't consist of too much right now. I wake up around 10 1030 sometimes 11. Then I get ready have a cup of tea, leave the house and walk to Theo's school which is about 15 minute walk from the house. Then we go to the park usually and find fun new exciting things to do each day. Like run through the field to see if that really is a huge clump of mud and snow. Then send a little man parachutting off of the play structure. And we do that again, and again, and again, until food is better than play. After making Theo lunch back at the house. We play roller skates. Then biking. Then boxing. Then pirates. Then hot wheels. Listen to skaterboy. His faave song. Then when it is time to pick up Dulcie we walk to her school which is about twenty minutes away and five minutes past there is the castle and downtown windsor. From there we walk home and do letters and then Tea, then a sweetie, pajamas and then the parents put them to bed. Then I have Tea with Jocelyn and Austin and it is always the best home cooked meals ever. Then after a couple more glasses of wine and a good movie I head to bed. Which is where I am laying right now. It is tired and tommorrow is becoming today. So off to bed I go.

entrance to london. you are now free.

I arrived in London Heathrow, for the second time on Friday, February 6th, 2009. I was a little nervous getting off the plane. "Were they gonna deport me out of the country once again? No, they can't I have my visa!" So I got a boost of confidence and kept walking down the long hall way to get to the end of the immigration line. The flight wasn't bad considering I had three seats all together and lay across them and sleep the whole way, except for dinner and breakfast. Anyways I finally got to the front of the line and the man who called "Next please!" in his strong English accent, was the same man who deported me, but a fresh haircut. He did not ask me any questions all he said was "How did it go?" and then he took me back to the "pig pen" where I had been taken the first time when he thought I looked like some sort of criminal or something. So I sat in the pen again and he said "be right back, there won't be any problems, don't worry." Then he left and went into the back. So i sat there, once again. Still sitting. Still waiting. 15 Minutes had passed and I had started to worry. I did not want to go all the way back home AGAIN! Eventually he came back to tell me that I could legally enter the country now. So he stamped my passport and just like that I was free.

From there I went and walked a long looking for the starbucks, which is where i was meeting Jocelyn and Austin so I picked up my luggage and went up the elevator and there it was. Its wierd not being able to use a cell phone or not have anyway to really contact someone at first hand. Especially when you are in a new place. I bought a starbucks sat down for a bit and checked to see if I had any internet connection but it was all stuff you had to pay for. So I shut that off and sat there and watched all the people around me for a bit, since Joceyln and Austin told me they wouldnt be there until 9: 30. I didn't feel like sitting around anymore so I got up and started pushing my luggage cart away and had to manouver around a bunch of strollers and bags and other people and then crash. "FUCK" the man beside me said. I felt so bad. "I'm so sorry" I replied. and then I kept going and got outta there as fast as I could. He was a big english man about thirty. Kind of looked like he could kill some one so I didn't look back. I saw a pay phone so I thought I should probably call and wake up the family and let them no I actually got into the country this time. So I went to the pay phone and did not understand what kind of money to put in it so I pressed the operator button and called collect. I did that last time so that was the only way I knew how to do. It worked so Mom and Dad new I was safe and sound now.
I went back to starbucks and sat on the complete opposite end of the man and waited and watched for Joceylen and Austin. Then I looked around and there they were with Theo! So we started walked out to the *car park* which is what they call a parking lot but first Theo said "I need to use the Loo i think" *Loo* being the washroom. I wonder how that came about. So we got to the car and drove home.

Everyone drives crazy here. They are no stop signs really its pretty much just free for all. Opposite side of the road and opposite side of the car. Confusing really. So we dropped Jocelyn off at the shop and then dropped Theo off at school. Then I got in had a cup of tea setteled in and unpacked all my stuff into my gorgeous designed room. Done unpacked I wanted to see if my skype thing worked so my lap top is on and my travel convertor plug, plugged in and plugged into that was my skype thing. A few seconds later *BANG* it blew up and scared the shit out of me. I was a little shaky after that and did not want to put anything else back into those plugs. So after one more cup of tea I decided to get some rest.

Screaming and yelling and laughing and giggling, i woke up to four little girls having so much fun in Dulcies bedroom. Right next to mine. This was going to be so much fun I thought. So I woke up and was ready for anything and everything. As I walked down the stairs in walked Theo and his friend Luke and they were ready to sled in the house. So the next few hours were loud and fun and obnoxious. I even got a Hannah Montannah tattoo from Dulcies new kit on my hand! Eventually the kids left and after playing with all the new toys Dulcie and Theo went to bed. Next was a dinner party. Delicious food here, lots of different stuff but so tasty! So we ate dinner and drank A LOT of wine. Bubbly's and White wine. It was delicious. After chatting , chocolates and more wine, I had survived my first day in Windsor.
